WORKSHOPS: Building a Sustainable Business
Operators of value-added farm businesses recognize the need for a written business plan to share with business partners, stakeholders, lenders and other funding sources. The Building a Sustainable Business Workshop Series will teach farmers how to develop a business plan. It is designed for existing and potential operators of direct marketing, food processing and agritourism enterprises.
Specialists from UT Extension, University of Tennessee-Martin and AgLaunch will offer the series live from Jackson, Tennessee with satellite locations via web conferencing in Columbia, Knoxville and Memphis on eight consecutive Tuesday evenings (January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26) from 6 to 8 pm Central Time (7 to 9 pm Eastern Time). Different topics and speakers will be featured each night.

The manual Building a Sustainable Business: A Guide to Developing a Business Plan for Farms and Rural Businesses (provided) will be the primary teaching text and participants will be encouraged to complete templates in the manual that will become the framework of their business plan. Specialists will be available at each workshop location to answer questions and provide technical assistance in the development of business plans over the eight weeks of the workshop series.
Space is limited and registration is required by December 31, 2018.
Registration fee = $25 per person, or $20 for multiple from same farm.
