Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training in Murfreesboro – FEB 15, 2017
This is a reminder that the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training is coming up on February 15th, 2017 in Murfreesboro, so that you can continue on to the Pick TN Conference right from there! Who Should Attend:
Fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety. The PSA Grower Training Course is one way to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in § 112.22(c) that requires ‘At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.’

Scholarships Available:
I am also happy to share that TSU, thanks to the support from National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA Project: 2016-70020-25805), will be able to provide financial support for up to 5 growers in Tennessee to attend the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training Workshop. This scholarship covers the $150 registration cost of the workshop. Scholarship recipients will be notified early in the week of February 6 and will be automatically registered for the workshop.
